THURSDAY THOUGHTS - Waiting for the Sunshine

It has been a very long time since I've posted Thursday Thoughts but am happy to continue to be creative. I'm still very proud of myself for creating "Still My Little Boy" all digital. I'm such a newbie to it (that's my 3rd digi page ever!) and I really like what I did. Hmmm...could this be the start of a new obsession??? I swore I'd never go completely digi but dang it was so fun & quick!!

I'm on schedule for all things scrappy but I'm a little behind on writing a how-to for January. I have been working on it and it is a big how-to with a lot of instructions and pictures. I want to get it done within the next week so I can start on my next one. I already have ideas for that and it won't be nearly as complicated.

I have also pulled together 9 PACKED kits full of goodies I want to sell. Each kit comes with 15 pcs. patterned paper and 5 pcs. cardstock, tons of embellies, and ribbon, flower and buttons of course! I still need to write up kit contents and figure out the selling price for each kit. Hopefully I'll have more on that soon.

I hope you get a chance to check out my gallery. I've been working with some great Spellbinders dies, the new Daisy D's valentine's collection and Flair's Amazing Grace collection. I have some other fantastic products coming up later on this month. :D

Life at home is going well. We had a difficult experience with our dog, Milo getting bit on the nose by our neighbor's dog. Milo's nose was injured pretty bad and we had to take him to the emergency animal clinic. He is healing well but it will take a lot of time and probably leave a large amount of scarring. We are trying to teach him to speak right now. He gets totally confused because he normally would get scolded for barking excessively, but suddenly he gets treats!! He's such a smart dog and we really need to work with him more. It's hard to describe his personality but it is definitely fun and he knows when we are teasing him and he LOVES it.

Other than that we've been fighting off colds, trying to stay warm and spending a lot of time at home driving each other crazy! More soon!

One Little Word - STILL

Here's my entry for this week's One Little Word: STILL. It is an all digi layout - yahoo! I used the Scrapbook Max software, plus Adobe PS and several kits to create this page. The journaling says:
I love that you still call me Mama, and that you like me to kiss you goodnight and tuck you into bed. I love when you snuggle with me and want to read to me. I love that you are still my little boy.

One Little Word - STEPS

My entry for this week's word: STEPS.

Title: These Steps I've Taken Without You

This is a story about the passing of my sister. Her 43rd birthday was six weeks after her death. We gathered graveside and released 43 balloons with our handwritten messages. I applied some different actions and effects to this photo to make the sky more vivid turning to a more black & white effect toward the bottom of the photo. I also wanted a longer flow of balloons so I merged two photos together.

Journaling: I never imagined a world without you yet here I am. You walked away from this life -- from me. We gathered to celebrate your birthday. I hope the balloons and their messages made it to you.

THURSDAY THOUGHTS - Recharge

Okay, I know it's really Friday but you would not have wanted my thoughts yesterday as they were laced with f-words and it took me a great deal to get back to my normal self again.

It was so cold yesterday that Hubby had a delayed start at work and took me to mine. We were having a great conversation about stress and the effects it has on our body - ironically enough - and I had brought my camera along and was taking photos of the beautiful sunrise.

We were about three blocks away from my work when everything went topsy-turvy for our great start to the morning. We had a car accident. Someone had placed their garbage bins in the street and to close to traffic and we hit it and lost our passenger side mirror. With the temperature (-4) and force from the mirror bouncing off of my window it's lucky that the window didn't shatter. Since we were so close to my work we continued there and Hubster dropped me off. I checked for other damage to the car but thankfully there was none.

I was shaken by the accident but was very thankful that the mirror is the only thing that got damaged. While I went to work Hubby went back to the accident site to retrieve the mirror, which had smashed into worthless pieces. He called the police which came out but were completely apathetic about the situation stating "they don't have much choice [on where to put the garbage can]." No, that's not the case, there was a driveway nearby. Now I know the snow's piled up high along the roadways but don't you think that if one car has an accident it's prudent to move it so that no one else hits it? I guess not in Madison.

There are city ordinances that restrict refuse being placed in the street where it has a potential of being an obstruction to traffic and any potential damages. I contacted the Streets Department who very succinctly told me that they could do nothing about the situation and that we needed to contact the home owner directly. This run around was making me so angry!

We did not involve the home owner believing that this is something the city and/or police would help with. Neither of them cared less. Now don't you think it might be advisable to at least give the home owner a citation? Nope. Apparently WE were at fault for driving down the street because WE are the ones who will have to pay for the damage.

I am still very frustrated and may do some more inquiring today (any thoughts/suggestions?) but I am not angry and thankfully the repair will not be as expensive as we thought it might - it will be close to $200.

Last night I must have just crashed because I was falling asleep while Korbin was reading to me, and when I tucked him into bed and went to sit with Katie in her bedroom I laid down to rest and continued to doze off. About a half hour later it was her bedtime and I told her I'd just stay and snuggle with her for awhile (which she LOVED) and fell asleep again and woke up about an hour later, got up to do some reading, and then go back to bed again. I still felt very tired this morning but now that I'm moving around I'm doing better.

New Year = New You

2008...it's so hard to believe! It got me thinking, is it possible to start the new year with a new you? Decide to put all of your faults behind you and become a new and improved you? We hear about resolutions to lose weight, exercise or quit smoking but how about resolving not to criticize and complain? Decide to break free from shyness once and for all? Being caring toward friends and strangers alike? Deciding that this is your year to totally ROCK. A year that will define the rest of your life.

I have some regular goals and some personality changing goals for myself in 2008. My goals include:
  • taking a picture and journaling about each day
  • completing my novel
  • continue with Tai Chi
  • my shy self has been put to rest, it's time to open up and share the love
  • 275 scrapbook pages
  • write one how-to each month
  • just totally ROCK!
2008 is going to be a stellar year. I will make sure of it. I am at the wheel of my destiny and I'm driving, no, speeding toward my dreams. Wanna come along?
