Pretty Girl
Sorry this isn't the greatest scan...with all of the dimension (felt, beads, foam adhesive) it was pretty lumpy. I've never found the color to be that good when taking a photo...so a little dark in spots from the scan...forgives! I created this for the CMK monthly designer challenge.
Title: Pretty Girl
Design Notes: I used a lot of layers in this one....the felt flowers are behind the large patterned paper, which I adhered with foam adhesive. I used a Glimmer Screen on top of the white cardstock and sprayed with three colors of Glimmer Mist then cut out a portion of the image for this layout. The Glass Beads are a hot pink color...see how different they look on the green vs. blue? I also added three beads inside of the felt flower for some extra color. I cut around the butterfly in the pp, and it extends off of the page.
Supplies:
Cardstock (Bazzill, Stampin Up)
Patterned Paper (BasicGrey, Luxe)
Die Cut (Scenic Route)
Rub Ons (Stampin Up, Making Memories)
Chipboard (Heidi Swapp)
Brads (American Crafts)
Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Screen (Tattered Angels)
Felt (Fancy Pants)
Ink (ColorBox)
Buttons, Beads (The Scarlet Lime-January 09 Kit)
Glass Glitter Beads (Darice)
Marker (Zig)
Adhesive (Stampin Up, Ad Tech)
Other: ribbon
Journaling:
This photo is ages old now but it is still one of my favorites! That smile on your face just makes me giggle! I think Daddy was "eating" your toes. These are the moments that I want to remember forever.

Lovin' Bo Bunny
I had to have the Beau Jardin collection of Bo Bunny papers! It is pretty feminine with the swirls and most of the colors, but look how well it works for BOY pages too!

A cool technique I discovered is to use alcohol inks on both sides of a sheer element. I dabbed the front with a mixture of blue and green but it just didn't show up well when I put it on the page. I tried apply silver alcohol ink to the BACK of my piece and it turned out looking like a mirrored stained glass sort of thing...it's beautiful!! I'm probably the last one to figure this out but it's a wonderful technique!
Products Used:
Patterned Paper, Rub Ons (Bo Bunny)
Felt Alpha (American Crafts)
Sheer Alpha (Maya Road)
Chipboard (Scenic Route)
Ink (Ranger Distress)
Hole Puncher (Crop a Dile)
Rhinestones (Doodlebug)
Adhesive (Ad Tech)
Other: misc. paper scraps
Journaling:
There’s just something special about you. Your energy and spirit are unmistakeable.
You are very intelligent but cannot sit still for long. You are affectionate and emotional. You are a challenge.
Establishing yourself in the great big world, you are jonesing for the top. Whether you
realize it or not, you are destined for big things. I felt it before you even came into this world. This is just the beginning.
AND I LEARNED A GOOD LESSON: Make sure you understand slang before you try to use it! I used Jonesing in an entirely different way than it's true slang meaning. I think Jonesing in a sense of achievement sounds better anyway, so there.

I DID IT!!!
I had my doubts - especially when it got down to the wire- but I'm officially entered into CK's Scrapbooker of the Year!! It's my first time entering and I believe it's at least good enough not to get tossed immediately. I made a binder for it which didn't come out quite as awesome as I'd hoped - partially because the ink got smeary on me when I applied Mod Podge. Lesson learned on that. Now, I'm going to focus on MMM. I'm so proud of myself for getting this done! And a NOTE TO SELF - don't wait until the last day to get it in the mail cuz' it's NOT cheap to send a box overnight. *sigh*
I also learned about a DT call at Freehand Scraps last week and instantly fell in love. It wasn't a position I'd been seeking, but it just feels right for me to be there. Sort of like coming home. I'm crossing my fingers on this...it's something I'm very excited about!

Monthly Contest Entry at Serendipity Scrapbooks
I've been a lover of Serendipity Scrapbooks for years and I like to join in their contests when I can. The March contest was using Jenni Bowlin products to create a "shabby-licious" layout. Let me know what you think. Oh BTW, not a fan of photographing my LO's (as I did here). I get the dimension but the color sucks.

Should know the winner any day now. Crossing fingers!
