Blue Hair?

My not-so-little baby came home from the stylist with a brand new haircut and color.

She had it done a few weeks ago and I hadn't taken a picture yet so, tonight we had a little styling session and then I took these pics.

Isn't it fun? I love being able to give her a bit of playfulness & individuality in a healthy way.

This is what it looked like before:

THURSDAY THOUGHTS - Advice Needed

Lots of randomness today:
  1. I am still guest designing for ScrapFriends. This month I am working with PK Glitz fine art glitter and sticky paper and fall-themed images. Really, really fun! I am not a huge fan of glitter but PK Glitz makes the BEST I have ever tried. Fun stuff...can't wait to share!
  2. Getting the urge to be on a design team again. I just work so much better when I have a purpose behind it all and a schedule to keep. Lately, I have become attached to reality TV instead of doing something. So not like me, so things need to get back onto track for me. I am interested in designing for Lil Scrapping Mama which is a brand new site that offers some lovely, well-put-together monthly kits. Intriguing! I've sent off an email to the owner to find out more about her and the future of the site. It is so new that I wanted more info. before I throw my name into the ring. If you know of a design team that works with monthly kits (or a really good manufacturing design team) opening PLEASE let me know. The only thing I want to limit somewhat is the requirement to participate in an online forum. Lots of DT's require so much non-design work from their designers, and I simply don't have the time for that.
  3. I have LOTS of scrapbook pages that I've been working on, just for fun - YES! I'd like to start posting a new one for you each week. Anyone interested? I'm thinking Mondays maybe. A lot of the pages are "use your stash" kind of pages as I've been weeding out a lot of my older scrapbook supplies.
  4. Trying really hard to make home-made gifts for Christmas this year. Haven't gotten far but the ideas I have had and what I have been able to start are gorgeous and I'm really happy with them. I now have this strange vision of creating a keepsake box for my dad using molded beeswax and alcohol ink to make it look all decorative yet studly for him.
  5. Been doing a TON of scrapping in small increments. I hate that. Much rather spend an hour or two jamming to my tunes without interruption.
  6. My beloved CD player just died on me. So I'm finally joining the land of MP3 players. Debated on an iPod but ended up getting the Sansa Clip which has all of the features I need. Nothing too fancy, just something that plays music and has an FM tuner because I do like listening to the radio now and then. I'm hoping to have it by this weekend so I can transfer my music to it.
  7. Can it already be getting close to 2010? I need to start thinking about a new blog header.
It is exactly 12 days until I leave for Baltimore. I've been sick so I haven't gotten any studying done. I need to get back into that.

It is exactly 18 days until we leave for our family vacation...YEAH! Been busy getting everything organized for that. Kids still don't know where we are going. I'm planning on packing snacks to munch on during the day to cut down on the food costs a bit. Any suggestions? Do you think bananas would survive in our luggage?

Lots of other stuff going on but I think I've rambled on long enough for one post. Catch ya!

THURSDAY THOUGHTS - Floating along this creative current

I've been incredibly busy. Work has been busier than usual with extra project and reports. Luckily for me I've been feeling pretty clear-headed and focused the past three weeks. Even so, I feel sooo behind because no matter what, I still have more to do. Today's project is to get through emails. Both work and personal. Weeks have gone by since I've actually sent an email to a friend.

It is also just over four weeks away before I'll be traveling for work and then pleasure. One week in Baltimore and one week, well, somewhere we will have a vacation to remember for years to come. (The kids will not know our destination until we are ON OUR WAY so I can't post it here yet. Such a mean mom, right?)

What makes it stressful is that I'll be arriving home on Saturday from Baltimore at 5:30 PM and I will be leaving again for our vacay on Sunday morning at 9:00 AM. That means I have to be ready for both trips by the 18th of October. I believe I might be a bit insane but what's life without a little bit of chaos!

Additionally, I will be taking a certification exam in Baltimore. I have to study, study, study in all of my spare time.

A good two months or so ago I broke down and bought Lady GaGa on CD. She's got quite a few singles playing on the radio and when I heard "Lovegame" I was hooked. As is my MO, I've pretty much listened to this one CD nearly every day since. I *LOVE* it. Her lyrics aren't what stands out, it is the melody and catchy bits that are intertwined into each song that makes it so special. Each time I listen to it, I just feel caught in this big creative bubble that I want to stay in forever. I caught her shocking VMA performance and was amazed once again at her creativity. Talent is questionable but creatively she's quite remarkable.

I've been working my way through my reading list. Right now I'm listening to Angela's Ashes by Frank McCourt. Audio books are an awesome way to "read" while I'm heading to work and back. Frank McCourt has an amazing Irish accent that I just adore. I feel like their way of storytelling, words & accents combined, are a story in and of itself. However, the book, Angela's Ashes, is also fabulous. Although I'm only a little way in I just don't want this book to end....EVER. I am so sad that Frank McCourt is no longer with us and that his lovely storytelling & Irish accent are gone as well. Highly recommend giving audio books a try. You get an even deeper feel for the stories sometimes.

Between Lady GaGa and Frank McCourt I've been simply floating down this creative current that I just don't want to leave. I feel like I'm wrapped in a comfortable blanket. It is such a wonderful place to be!
