Found me some mojo!!

Some days it sure feels like I've been living under a rock. Thanks to the CK newsletter I just discovered the Oh Joy! blog which is nothing but pure inspiration, color and total WOW! I just did a quick glance through and knew I had to share it with all of my peeps. :D (Aren't I thoughtful??? LOL!)

I've been gravitating farther and farther away from scrapbook-related projects as inspirational sources. I use a lot of magazines, websites, catalogs and just what I see in everyday life. I also still rely on Scrapbook Trends, which never ceases to inspire me. The rest of the mags. (some of which I still subscribe) I will be letting go. It seems the less I look at what others are doing, the more I've learned to listen to my own inner muse. The outcome is often a page I just fall in love with.

What do you use for inspiration?

Yay for CHA!

So excited....I finally got to finalize my travel plans for CHA - Chicago! I really didn't think I'd get a chance to go this year so I'm super excited to be invited. The only thing I don't like is that I'm going alone. I wish I had a friend to share my excitement and off-hours fun with. Guess I'll be on a mission to make new friends! And I'll get to meet my review team coordinator, April....so excited about that too! Anyone else going?

I'm hoping for time to do make and takes - something I was barely able to do last time I went. But I will be making lots of contacts and introductions and hopefully some sort of positive impression. I'm trying to think of a way to stand out from the crowd. Thinking, thinking! Still not sure if I'll take my laptop, and I'm also debating on brining some scrappy supplies with me cuz' I KNOW I'll be incredibly inspired after seeing all of the yummy-ness!

Any special requests, products to watch out for?? Let me know...the countdown is ON!!!

THURSDAY THOUGHTS - File this one in the "TOO MUCH INFORMATION" folder

I spent the day cleaning and organizing my scrap room. If there's one thing that makes me stop from buying more stuff it is trying to put away all the stuff that I already have piled all over my desk!!! I clean off my desk about every other week and it always takes FOR-EVER! Anywhooo...it's done (enough) and I did manage to complete a cool layout today with two more in progress.

Now, onto the juicy TMI.

My daughter just learned about puberty. She's almost 10. She's been super excited about learning all of this new stuff and hardly a day went by for the past two weeks without her bringing it up. So far Hubby and I have been able to answer her questions without freaking out (in front of her at least!) and have always been honest with her. I've done some stalling trying to figure out what to say and realized that every question does not have to bring up the whole enchilada. The mother of all things puberty related. The talk. That's been a relief!!

After the puberty lessons and educational video she informs me that she can only wear tampons when she's swimming. And she knows how they work. The cotton soaks up the blood . Okay. Like I haven't had my freakin' period FOR-EVER already. But I humor her.

She's obsessed with getting her period and she has been carrying the school-supplied pad around "just in case." I just let her go with it, but I do tell her that hopefully it will be a LONG time until she has to deal with that stuff.

And now.....well......it's happening!

"Mom, it hurts right here." she says as she's pointing to her nipple. I take a look and sure enough there's a hard little lump in both of them and one is swollen. Gee, I remember when that happened to me!! I've tried to wish this wasn't happening but they still hurt her so I think I need to resign myself to the fact that my little girl is GOING THROUGH PUBERTY!

God save me! (Oh, and keep Hubby from becoming totally spastic, please!)

Math and Butterflies

We practiced flash cards tonight. Katie got in on the action. I love it when these two work together so nicely!

Here's a card I made last night. I was very happy with the way it all came together. The ribbon is a pale mossy green color. The flower sprig was stamped on cardstock and then cut out and layered on top. The clear acrylic butterfly was dabbed with alcohol inks to get this look. I also edged the papers with a little Craf-T creamy colors.

Pieces of Me

My loves, my feelings, my hopes . . . just ME.
