THURSDAY THOUGHTS - She's Growing Up
My daughter is turning into such a big girl....almost 11 years old and that "little girl" look is starting to fade away. Her dad and I know that changes are happening....it's pretty uncomfortable to see your little girl grow up to *that* age.
1. No more blissful school days making spray-painted noodle necklaces and playing on the monkey bars with your friends.
2. That whole *sex* talk with your Mom & Dad.
3. The changes to your body that you are totally psyched to have happen. (What were we thinking??)
4. Welcome to the world of middle school...never ending homework, unstable female emotions and algebra.
5. Competition. Sports, friends, boys, grades, clothing, money.
6. Drugs and Alcohol.
7. You want to try being the tooth fairy for your little brother.
8. Parents are no longer your friend (at least you don't want them to think they are)!
9. Wanting alone time.
10. Getting to wear makeup and changing your hair color.
This week Katie was allowed to put hot pink highlights into her hair and BOY IS SHE EXCITED to have it! She can't believe we allowed her to do it, but I smile and think she looks adorable. I tell her that she's at a perfect age for this kind of fun stuff with her hair. I love seeing her so happy!
What will we be faced with next?

USE YOUR STASH CHALLENGE: Beads
I know this is about scrapbooking but if you're like most scrappers I know, other "crafts" have found their way into your scrapbooking...like BEADS. Give it up, I know you've got some! I know I do...but rarely use them. It's not that I don't love them, it's just not the kind of "bling" I reach for regularly.
I used beads strung on a spiral clip (remember those??) and also dangling from metal charms. Show me what you can do with your beads!!
Supplies:
Patterned Paper (BasicGrey, Urban Lily)
Paint (Claudine Hellmuth Studio)
Ink (Ranger)
Charms, Tape Writer (Around the Block)
Stickers (Heidi Swapp, SEI)
Marker (Zig)
Card (Urban Lily)
Adhesive (Ad Tech)
Other: junk mail envelope, beads, spiral clip, ribbon
Journaling:
You found a Cool Whip container in the backyard and kept running around with it. Such a nutball!

LOVE: Edy's Thin Mint Cookie Ice Cream
I ***LOVE*** thin mint cookies so when I saw Edy's version of it, my hand reached out and grabbed it so fast I nearly went through the glass door! Got home and had me a bowl and immediately I wanted to run to the store and buy the other 5 cartons they had left to save for myself! I haven't yet...but I'm thinking about it!!
My poor DH had to sit through my "OH, GOD, MMMMM, YUM" moaning while I was eating it and promptly suggested using it on himself so that I'd be giving him that kind of attention. Yeah, he was a bit jealous...

USE YOUR STASH CHALLENGE - Brads
I love brads and I still use them frequently but they aren't often a focus of my LO's but rather a tiny little accent. That's fine, but when you are looking at using your stash I thought this was a great way to do it. What can you do with your brads?

Pretty Girl
Sorry this isn't the greatest scan...with all of the dimension (felt, beads, foam adhesive) it was pretty lumpy. I've never found the color to be that good when taking a photo...so a little dark in spots from the scan...forgives! I created this for the CMK monthly designer challenge.
Title: Pretty Girl
Design Notes: I used a lot of layers in this one....the felt flowers are behind the large patterned paper, which I adhered with foam adhesive. I used a Glimmer Screen on top of the white cardstock and sprayed with three colors of Glimmer Mist then cut out a portion of the image for this layout. The Glass Beads are a hot pink color...see how different they look on the green vs. blue? I also added three beads inside of the felt flower for some extra color. I cut around the butterfly in the pp, and it extends off of the page.
Supplies:
Cardstock (Bazzill, Stampin Up)
Patterned Paper (BasicGrey, Luxe)
Die Cut (Scenic Route)
Rub Ons (Stampin Up, Making Memories)
Chipboard (Heidi Swapp)
Brads (American Crafts)
Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Screen (Tattered Angels)
Felt (Fancy Pants)
Ink (ColorBox)
Buttons, Beads (The Scarlet Lime-January 09 Kit)
Glass Glitter Beads (Darice)
Marker (Zig)
Adhesive (Stampin Up, Ad Tech)
Other: ribbon
Journaling:
This photo is ages old now but it is still one of my favorites! That smile on your face just makes me giggle! I think Daddy was "eating" your toes. These are the moments that I want to remember forever.

USE YOUR STASH CHALLENGE - Buttons
I love buttons and I do use them, but I still have tons more that I can put to good use. I made them a focal point in my project, mimicking the sun images in the patterned paper. This is a great way to use up many different buttons.
Supplies:
Cardstock (WorldWin, Prism)
Patterned Paper (BasicGrey, American Crafts)
Alpha Stickers (Adorn It, Heidi Grace)
Buttons (Scarlet Lime Kit Club, Daisy D's, Stampin Up)
Adhesive (Ad Tech, Stampin Up)
Journaling:
5/2/05
Wednesday you offered to help the janitor - Mr. Bob - get a drink at the drinking fountain because he only has one arm. Mr. Bob said that he had already had a drink downstairs. You asked if he was sure he didn't want any because the "water is really good." :)

USE YOUR STASH CHALLENGE - Letter Stickers
This week I wanted to use up some of my OLD American Crafts alphabet stickers. I have so many letters gone now, so I cut out the outline of them and used the full sticker for the letters I did have left. That BasicGrey patterned paper is also several releases old.
Title: Persuit of Happiness

Patterned Paper (BasicGrey)
Stickers (American Crafts, Making Memories, 7Gypsies)
Scalloped Cardstock (Bazzill)
Rub On (Creative Imaginations)
Marker (Tsukineko)
Adhesive (Ad Tech)
